What It Is Like

A day in the life of a Linden carer

No two days are the same in care, and that is part of what makes it meaningful. A typical morning might begin with a personal care visit to an older gentleman in Chesterton who likes to chat about cricket over his morning tea. Then a dementia visit in Cherry Hinton where familiarity and routine are everything. Then a medication call for a young woman with a long-term condition who wants to maintain her independence in her own flat.

What ties it all together is the relationship you build with each person. Our carers often say that the consistency of their client base — seeing the same people regularly rather than a rota of strangers — is the thing that makes the job genuinely rewarding.

You are supported throughout. Our coordination team is always available by phone. Your supervisor checks in regularly. And when something changes with a client, you are not left to manage it alone.

Your Development

Carer Voices

What our carers say

Linden genuinely looks after its carers. I have never felt more valued in a job. The training is thorough, the team is supportive, and I actually look forward to going to work.

Amara K.

Care Assistant, Cambridge

The consistency with my clients makes all the difference. I see the same people every week and we have built real relationships. That is rare in care and it is why I stay.

James F.

Senior Care Assistant, Cambridge

When I joined I had no care experience at all. The induction was thorough and I never felt thrown in at the deep end. Two years later I am a senior and working towards my Level 3.
